Rabbi Morgan Tobey

Morgan Tobey is currently a 5th year rabbinical student at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York City and presently serves as the rabbinic intern at the Community Synagogue of Rye. In this role, she teaches Torah to those aged 3 to 93, helps lead prayer and lifecycle services, and takes on numerous special projects such as the congregational book club and the Jewish Information Class.

Upon completion of her degree in political science at the University of Southern California, Morgan worked as an elementary and preschool teacher while serving a term on the Board of Trustees at Temple Emanu-El of Dallas, along with numerous other committee roles and teaching religious school. 

During her time in rabbinical school, Morgan has served as President of the HUC-JIR NY campus Student Association, NY Student Ambassador for the Office of Recruitment and Admissions, the rabbinic intern at Cornell University Hillel, and as the High Holy Day intern at Congregation Adath Emanu-El in Mt. Laurel, NJ. Morgan has earned a Masters in Hebrew Literature, a certificate in Jewish Organizational Leadership through the Zelikow School of Jewish Nonprofit Management, and completed a unit of Clinical Pastoral Education at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. She will be ordained as a rabbi in May 2026. When she isn’t working, you can find Morgan rooting for the Dallas Wings and Cowboys and planning Disneyland trips!
